You are buying one Cleyera Japonica live plant in a #3 container. This shrub is a broadleaf evergreen shrub or small tree native to Asia in the Pentaphylacaceae family. The family name was previously Theaceae, and the genus is named after German botanist and physician Andreas Cleyer. The leaves look glossy but feel leathery, and some of them are a coppery brown that complements the green leaves well. A southern favorite, Cleyera japonica is a broadleaf evergreen shrub that makes an excellent border, hedge, screen, or foundation plant. Its glossy new growth emerges with an attractive bronze tint before maturing to a deep lustrous green. In spring, white bell-shaped flowers open and emit a pleasant aroma before developing into reddish-black ornamental fruit.
